~Home Views~

(Click any photo to view larger.)

It seems that every other weekend(when Jon is at work)I make a promise to myself not to spend too much time cleaning my house...which inevitably leads me to spending too much time cleaning my house. I'm not a clean freak. I do not aspire to live in a magazine spread. Long ago I figured out that when you share your space with children...two BIG, hairy dogs...kitties, and whoever else happens to show up on your doorstep things are going to happen...

But yesterday I took the time to celebrate the rare little bit of tidy serenity that I got to enjoy...

This is where I spend ninety percent of my week days...I turned the old front room into the kid's playroom. It's big,and bright with all the old windows, and natural light spilling in.

Children are as charmed by history as we are. All the kids love the old school desk, and vintage Fisher Price toys...nothing stands up better!

Next to the playroom is our diningroom/art studio/greenhouse...

This is almost my favorite room...with all it's original mouldings and cabinetry, antique phone, and gorgeous French doors. (Which I always have to keep open and tucked away.)

There's no fine china in this china cabinet...just toys...and art supplies. And then there's my kitchen...I heart my kitchen...

(I think the passion vine hanging in the window is going to eat me someday...it's slowly taking the place over!)

It's not a huge space. We decided to stick to the footprint of the orginal one, but it works fantasticly for us. The kitchen is the last original room in the house...and it opens right onto the addition. If I ever manage to get the rest of the place presentable I snap a few pictures of it too...

What about your homes...what are your favorite spaces? I'd love it if you shared some pictures too! :)

Oh my goodness, I am so in love with your beautiful home.

I have always wished to live in a house like this...hardwood floors, thick moulding around the windows and doors, big wide open spaces with lots of natural light, and a beautiful garden.

Can I move in? Pretty please????

LOVE LOVE LOVE your house...and you!

Oh sigh...
this gorgeous space you call home has your heartprints all over it.

I see your warmth and generosity and creative spirit at each and every turn.
How lucky your husband and children and pets and friends to have such an incredible woman as you in their lives... your environment is as inviting as your soul.

love you! xoxo

Oh your home is soooo beautiful and I think it should be in a magazine! I love that kitchen, it's perfect. I love it just the way it is. I used to hang plants like that in my kitchen too.

I really love my kitchen but wished it didn't face north, getting food photos is now very challenging! My living room is also another place I adore, so little clutter and lots of natural light.

I am so jealous! What a wonderful space you've created. I LOVE the no-china cabinet bursting with art & toys & goodies.

Now I'm feeling like I really must at LEAST fold that big pile of laundry on the chair next to my bed.

so inspiring that you shared these photos!!! inspiring to see plants and clean floors and art supplies in the cabinets instead of china and toys on the shelves instead of pretentious shelf stuff. wonderful!!

i'm going to get a vine for my kitchen window. as soon as the "plant school" is open tomorrow. :-)

Wow, thank you for that gorgeous look inside your world. Your pictures are inspiring! I took the next two days off to paint and have been feeling somewhat blah about choosing my colors but I think your pictures could turn that around!

Wonderful...
